Always an amazing meal at the Anchor Inn - it has become our new local date night spot since moving into the area. Attentive staff, great choice of food and a warm welcoming atmosphere. My children enjoy the outdoor play area when waiting between courses.
I have been travelling from Southampton for many years now to visit friends in Sutton Bridge, and they have always commented on how busy the Anchor gets and heard a lot about how good the food is there. Well, we finally managed to try it out, and all I can say is WOW. Very impressed on the food there, and will definitely be returning as soon as I'm visiting again. Our meals were perfectly cooked and very tasty, one of the best meals out I have had. The service was 5 star, very attentive. The table next to us all had the roast dinner, very generous portion sizes, they needed a bigger table. A very big thank you for your hospitality and cannot wait to return.
Great food at a good price. Had a wait for the food didn't look busy but I was informed it's freshly cooked. When the food arrived it was hot and very large portions. Everything was very fresh and full of flavour. The burgers where a proper thick burger and not a pate. Mine was a steak and ale pie and the chunks of steak where full of flavour and no fat. Couldn't fault anything and the staff where great.
A mixed bag last night for our work's Christmas do. After last year's amazing christmas night out with yourselves, we decided to return to the anchor for our second year running... I had requested seating in the same area as last year, but instead we ended up in the large room at the back which was noisy and four of our party struggle with hearing so they felt a bit overwhelmed and unable to hear and participate with our table conversations. The carvery was delicious and the speed at which we were served was excellent and Ruby (our waitress) was extremely attentive and polite throughout. The gluten free offering was another reason we returned because last year the gluten free Yorkshire pudding (and gravy) was incredible ! However, the photo shows the gluten free Yorkshire pudding- which in my opinion should not have been served and should have been remade - a pancake at best. One of the steaks ordered was overcooked, but the staff were very quick to fix this and offer us another streak cooked to perfection. The atmosphere quickly faded last night in the pub and the band were not as good as in the previous year and all the people at party tables disappeared quickly after they had eaten, which was not what we were hoping for - so not quite the party night we had planned or expected , maybe last year had set the bar too high! Thanks for having us.
Visited on the 19/01/26 for a family birthday meal, food was fantastic best I’ve had in a long time in a restaurant. All cooked to perfection and fresh, steak had no fat or gristle so top marks there. All reasonably priced including the drinks and I will be returning.
